中国密宗大典
 
    密宗又称密教、秘密教、瑜伽密教，是佛教的重要派别，在中国、印度、日本，乃至世界许多国家都产生过深远的影响。早在三国时代，印度密教的思想和实践便传人中国。此后600年间，中国本土的高僧和译师汉译了不少佛教典籍，一些印度、西域来华的高僧和译师精通咒术和密仪，他们所译佛籍，基本上属于“杂密”。      在中国宏传纯粹密教(“纯密”)并创立宗派的，是唐代开元三大士善元畏、金刚智和不空。经过他们的倡导，密教昌盛一时。善无畏在弟子一行协助下译出《大日经》，成为密宗的“宗经”。不空译出《金刚顶经》，亦为密宗重要经典。把密宗典籍译为汉字，成为汉地高僧的重要宗教活动，从而为后世留存了许多的佛教典籍。     今天存世的密宗典籍，梵本数量极少，而汉地保存的译本数量颇多。据统计，汉译密藏经轨?00部，681卷，经疏14部，81卷，共计414部，762卷。日本《大正藏》收入密宗典籍193部，1109卷。这些密宗汉文译本对于今人研究印度、中国密宗历史，是极为珍贵的史料，受到国内外宗教界和学术界的重视，日本和一些西方国家已经刊印了很多密宗典籍校本，利用存世密宗典籍所进行的研究工作也日趋活跃。     本书把汉文密宗最重要的典籍汇为一编，按纯密、杂密分期排列。首选唐开元三大±善无畏、金刚智、一行，以及著名高僧不空等唐代所译纯密经典，次及宋代名僧天息灾(法贤)、法灭、施护、法天、金总持及元、明、清时代译经。杂密阶段译经重要者也一一收入。全书共收译经近500种。
